Sur Ron Ultra Bee Upgrade Guide
The Ultra Bee is bigger, faster and heavier than the Light Bee, and treating it as a scaled-up version of that bike is the most common and most expensive mistake new owners make. Frame, subframe, fork and wheel dimensions all differ. Light Bee parts mostly do not fit, and the ones that do say so explicitly on their product page.
Why the extra speed changes the priorities
Everything that was true about the Light Bee is more true here. The Ultra Bee carries more mass at higher speed, which means braking and suspension are working harder from the moment you leave the driveway, before you modify anything at all.
Brakes come first, and not by a small margin
An Ultra Bee ridden at its actual capability asks a great deal of its brakes, particularly on repeated hard stops where heat builds. Oversized rotors help twice over: more leverage for the initial bite, and more mass to absorb heat so the fifth stop feels like the first.
Check bracket requirements before ordering, or sidestep the issue with a matched brake kit. Everything Ultra Bee compatible is in Ultra Bee parts and e-moto brakes.
Wheels and tires
Supermoto sets exist for the Ultra Bee and suit it well, since the bike has the power to make street riding genuinely entertaining. As with any conversion, expect changes to ride height, gearing feel and brake clearance.
For dirt, the honest advice is unglamorous: replace worn tires before buying anything else. See e-moto wheels.
Suspension
The Ultra Bee's extra weight and speed load the suspension harder than the Light Bee's, so spring rate matched to rider weight matters even more. Set sag after installation. A correctly set up stock-ish suspension beats an expensive misconfigured one, every time. Browse e-moto suspension.
Protection
Bigger bike, more momentum, more expensive consequences. Motor covers and frame protection are worth fitting before you find out why, especially if you ride rocky terrain.
Plates, graphics and finish
The Ultra Bee has a strong aftermarket for cosmetics. Front and number plates, including vented designs, and decals and graphics let you change the bike's look without touching a bolt. Carbon fiber parts save weight and resist scuffing, though they are less forgiving of sharp impacts than plastic, so keep them away from the places rocks actually hit.
Hardware
Titanium bolt kits are available for the Ultra Bee as complete sets, or buy individual pieces for specific locations. Anti-seize and a torque wrench, always.
Power
The Ultra Bee is already fast, which makes power upgrades the least urgent item on this list and the one most likely to outrun the rest of the bike. If you go there, do brakes and tires first, and understand the warranty implications. See power and drivetrain upgrades.
